Potent GHG Sulfr hexafluoride rapidly accumulating in atmosphere, driven by

Jul 06, 2020 · 06 July 2020. In an open-access study in the EGU journal Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, an international team of researchers reports that the greenhouse gas sulfur hexafluoride (SF 6) is rapidly accumulating in the atmosphere, driven by the demand for SF 6 -insulated switchgear in developing countries. Of all the greenhouse gases regulated under the Kyoto Protocol, sf6 gas is the most potent, with a global warming potential (GWP) of 23,500 over a 100-year time horizon.
